Graeme Turnbull is a Creative Director and VFX Supervisor from Glasgow, Scotland, based in Los Angeles. His work spans visual effects, film, animation, and art, driven by a hands-on approach and a natural eye for how things are made. His interest in film and animation began at an early age and developed into a career creating commercial film and visual effects for global brands including Tide, Doritos, PepsiCo, Nike, and Amazon. Graeme has collaborated with directors including Mike Diva, Chris Werner, Brian Buckley, JJ Adler, and Jake Scott, with several projects receiving industry recognition. Alongside commercial work, he maintains an active art and drawing practice, exploring different mediums and processes by hand. Whether developing a commercial from concept through final VFX or experimenting in the studio, his work is grounded in curiosity, craft, and a desire to keep making things.

“We filmed Joy Ride in two polarizing locations in California. The opening scene was filmed in sunny Downtown LA & the sledding scenes were filmed at 11,000ft on Mammoth Mountain. In downtown the art department did an exceptional job dressing the set with practical snow, giving LA a real taste of winter. This was invaluable when combining the two locations together in post. We were fortunate that there was still snow cover in August in Mammoth, however shooting at altitude had its own challenges. The constantly changing weather conditions meant we had to stop filming at multiple points. The final film has all the ingredients for that desired Christmas feeling.
