VFX Supervisor
VFX Supervisor Graeme Turnbull, originally from Glasgow, Scotland, has made a name for himself in the world of visual effects. Inspired by the vibrant urban culture of the UK, he balances his work on high-end commercial VFX projects with his primal hand-drawn art, characterized by a minimalist palette of line and tone. Graeme's fascination with film and animation began in childhood, leading him to earn a Bachelor's and Master's in Animation. This education introduced him to the fast-paced commercial sector, where he built valuable industry connections including mentorship from The Mill's creators. After completing his Master's, he joined The Mill in London and has spent the last five years in their LA studio. His notable projects include Super Bowl commercials such as Tide’s ‘The Jason Alexander Hoodie’ and Doritos’ ‘Jack's New Angle,’ as well as campaigns for Pepsico and Nike, and several award-winning Amazon campaigns directed by Wayne McClammy.

“We filmed Joy Ride in two polarizing locations in California. The opening scene was filmed in sunny Downtown LA & the sledding scenes were filmed at 11,000ft on Mammoth Mountain. In downtown the art department did an exceptional job dressing the set with practical snow, giving LA a real taste of winter. This was invaluable when combining the two locations together in post. We were fortunate that there was still snow cover in August in Mammoth, however shooting at altitude had its own challenges. The constantly changing weather conditions meant we had to stop filming at multiple points. The final film has all the ingredients for that desired Christmas feeling. Everyone involved did an excellent job & it was a real pleasure to help bring this festive world to life.” - Graeme Turnbull
